Wonderful tree, including large inflorescence this season, budding well just some just starting opening, and the spectacular foliage .
Amusingly, directly outside the entrance of the Au Tropical Forests Institute building, including Au Tropical Herbarium, JCU Smithfield Cairns campus .
This garden was re-landscaped and re-planted sometime since ca. 2019 when i travelled away to stay with my elderly, unwell, now late Mum, and when I returned in 2021 this tree had long gone.
Frank Zich, herbarium curator, says in our conversation, this was self sown in the time after the (previous) garden was constructed .
Some nearby, old 1980s–1990s, herbarium specimens' records in the Au Virtual Herbarium records, out of only 106 total records in Qld and Au–wide.
If I was growing some indigenous Polyscias spp. for horticultural purposes for suburban plantings, I would certainly include this beaut' species.
