User's notes

A bush and a tree, healthy, with bright coloured new growth and some persisting old fruits. Deliberately sought out this tree, as earlier in flower in Sue Carnahan's iNat sighting, here: https://inaturalist.ala.org.au/observations/149675146 —to confirm my initially tentative identification of what limited resolution I could make out in her broad photographs. Mossman – Julatten road, lookout to the east, Julatten, Qld 4871, Au. 2023 March 23rd 7:42–7:46 am. The first and important photograph did not properly full focus, a pity. Most subsequent photographs focussed well. Comparing Commersonia macrostipulata and Commersonia bartramia (both closely related). Different sized stipules provides the initial diagnostic feature to observe, check and photograph, for distinguishing these two species.
