Caps conical/spherical & deeply pitted [morels]


 

The cap of the fruitbody is some shade of brown and the surface has some resemblance to honeycomb, albeit without the pits being neatly hexagonal. There are sharp ridges between the pits

 

In fungal field guides you see the species in this sub-group referred to as morels.
